Health ProfessionsSussex Tech Adult Education  |  302-856-90352CPR REQUIREMENTAll students enrolling in a Health Professions Certifcate Program are re-quired to register for and complete a Heartsaver CPR AED First Aid course. (See Page 8 for enrollment options.) The fee for this course is in addition to the cost of the Health Professions course. If a student has a current and valid CPR certifcate, they may be excused from this requirement. No refunds or transfers.Students certifed through the National Healthcareer Association have a proven and nationally recognized standard of competency in their feld. They are prepared for in-demand careers with more job opportunities and the potential for greater career advancement.MEDICAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT CERTIFICATE(223 Hours)This program prepares students to function effectively in many of the ad-ministrative and clerical positions in the healthcare industry. It provides stu-dents a well-rounded introduction to medical administration that delivers the skills students require to obtain an administrative medical assistant position or advance within their current healthcare career. This course covers the following key areas and topics:• History and background of the medical assisting profession• Interpersonal skills, medical ethics, and basic medical law• Telephone techniques and skills for scheduling appointments• Medical terminology• Basics of insurance billing and coding• Medical records management and management of practice fnancesWhat YOU need to know:You must attend a Mandatory Orientation Session (see Page 3).  Most books and materials are included in the tuition cost. Some books will be provided for classroom use only, but are available for purchase. A criminal background check, drug screening, and one set of uniforms are included in the tuition cost.  The tuition includes one administration of the NHA certif-cation exam.
