Health ProfessionsSussex Tech Adult Education  |  302-856-90354PHARMACY TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE(153 Hours)The need for Pharmacy Technicians continues to grow with demand expected to increase substantially every year.  Technicians work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, community pharmacies and other healthcare settings. This high demand for pharmacy technicians is the result of a multitude of factors including the constant availability of new drugs, the national shortage of registered pharmacists, the establishment of certifed pharmacy technicians, and the aging population.  Approximately 400,000 technicians will be employed by the year 2018 to meet our nation’s growing healthcare demands. This program will prepare students to enter the pharmacy feld and to pursue certifcation.What YOU need to know:You must attend a Mandatory Orientation Session (see Page 3).  Tuition includes textbooks, criminal background, drug screening, one set of uniforms, and one administration of the PTCB exam. She spent 23 years in the Army Reserve Nurse Corp and became the assistant chief nurse in a 500 bed surgical hospital. She was a Battalion Training Management Offcer responsible for evaluation and training readiness of numerous army units, and then retired as a Lt. Colonel. One of her proud accomplishments is: she started a faith based initiative program for homeless single mothers and another one for homeless mentally ill men. This program was later visited by President Bush.Students wishing to en-roll in Pharmacy must successfully pass a math pre-test assessment.
