Health ProfessionsSussex Tech Adult Education  |  302-856-90356PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE(220 Hours)The phlebotomist is a vital member of the clinical laboratory team, whose main function is to obtain patient’s blood specimens by venipuncture and micro-collection for testing purposes. Phlebotomists are employed throughout the healthcare system including in hospitals, neighborhood health centers, med-ical group practices, HMO’s, public health facilities, veteran hospitals, insur-ance carriers, and in other healthcare settings. The Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood and other specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis.What YOU need to know:You must attend a Mandatory Orientation Session (see Page 3).  Most books and materials are included in the tuition cost. Program includes 220 hours of classroom instruction and a 40-hour externship. A criminal back-ground check, drug screening, and one set of uniforms are included in the tuition cost.  The tuition includes one administration of the NHA certifcation exam. In 2015, Rachel moved to Greenwood from Hong Kong.  She had earned a 2 year college degree in the Philippines in the Medical Offce and always enjoyed working in the Healthcare feld. After moving here, the only job she was able to get was in the fast food industry and helping her husband on the farm. She worked very hard to overcome many barriers when she decided to take the Enhanced CNA program. She had to learn to drive a car, get a drivers license and learn the area, all while perfecting her English. She was a very dedicated student and her success has paid off. She is working at a local healthcare facility and is more active in her community making friends and helping people. Student Success Story!REHABILITATION THERAPY TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE(148 Hours)As a Rehabilitation Therapy Tech, you will work closely with Physical Ther-apists and Occupational Therapists to help patients. You will learn anatomy, medical terminology, ethics, confdentiality laws, and the role of the Rehabilita-tion Technician in a variety of settings. A 40 hour externship is included and al-lows you to experience this work frst hand in a professional setting. Students will take the American Education Certifcation Exam after their externship.What YOU need to know:You must attend a Mandatory Orientation Session (see Page 3).
