The partnership between the Seaford School District and Sussex Technical School District's Adult Education Division is honored with an award.
Sussex Technical School District’s Adult Education Division and Seaford School District were recently recognized for Outstanding Achievement and Service for their partnership. Lieutenant Governor Matt Denn, on behalf of the Interagency Council on Adult Literacy, presented the award on Friday, April 13.
The Sussex Tech Adult Division offers classes in a number of areas, including English as a Second Language (ESL) and Family Literacy, serving over 3,000 adults. It has partnerships with a large number of organizations, local businesses and school districts and offers programs throughout Sussex County.
One of those partnerships with the Seaford School District was awarded the Outstanding Program by the Council on Adult Literacy. Their partnership has evolved and expanded since beginning in 2001. Where there is a need in the community, the two school districts have worked together to serve the citizens of the community. Their partnership has affected all age groups – adults in the Adult Basics Education and James H. Groves Adult High School programs; high schoolers in the Seaford High School and the In-School Credit program; and ESL adults and children in the Family Literacy program. The two districts collaborate, rather than compete, and the community and its citizens win.
