Sussex Tech is proud to announce we have chosen La Red Health Center to manage our school based wellness center.  La Red Health Center has been providing quality healthcare to all residents of Sussex County for over 10 years. 

La Red Health Center currently provides primary care services to children, adolescents, adults and seniors – including immunizations, school, sports, and work physicals, diabetes and cancer screenings, behavioral health services to treat depression, domestic violence, alcohol and substance abuse, health education classes, women’s health services, dental care, access to medications, access to transportation, and translation/interpretation services.

HISTORY/BACKGROUND

La Red Health Center opened its doors in February of 2001.  La Red Health Center opened its first satellite site in Seaford in June of 2010.  La Red Health Center hired a dentist and began providing dental care in February of 2011.  You might have already noticed that La Red Health Center is building a brand new 25,000 square foot medical center next to the Walmart in Georgetown, Delaware.  The new building is expected to be complete by the Spring of 2012.

BENEFITS

Sussex Tech is proud to welcome La Red Health Center to our family.   First, La Red Health Center plans to retain the existing Wellness Center staff members who have developed close relationships with you and your children and have worked at the Wellness Center for years.  Second, La Red Health Center plans to retain the existing services that are needed by you and your children at Sussex Tech.  La Red Health Center hopes to offer even more services to you and your children at the Wellness Center. Third, La Red Health Center will be able to offer you more convenient times and locations for medical care.  You can be seen at the Wellness Center at Sussex Tech, or you can make an appointment at their Georgetown and Seaford offices.  La Red Health Center offers appointments Monday to Thursday until 6:30 pm and also on Saturday mornings at their Georgetown office so that you do not have to miss work to access high quality medical care.

NEW STATEWIDE REQUIREMENT

There will be one major change.  The State of Delaware will require all providers to begin charging for wellness, medical, and mental health services at ALL High School Wellness Centers in the State of Delaware.  This is new for every wellness center in the State of Delaware.  Sussex Tech will be working closely with La Red Health Center to prepare to meet the new requirements and make the smoothest possible transition.  We will make sure to communicate these changes to you and we encourage you to contact us with any questions as we make this transition.
