Adult Education Students Meet with State Legislators

Several adult education students and graduates of the Sussex Tech Adult Division attended the “Meet and Greet the Many Faces of Adult Education Luncheon” held on Tuesday, March 13 at Legislative Hall, hosted by State Senator Catherine Cloutier of District 5, Wilmington. Representing Sussex Tech Adult Division were Elizabeth Cutshaw of Seaford, Latasha Fooks of Bridgeville, Manon Smalley of Seaford, Michele Phillips of Millsboro, Chad Lecates of Seaford, and Ryan Hearn of Laurel.

The guests represented younger and older students with diverse groups such as displaced workers, English as a Second Language, Groves, GED, ABE, single mother, and parolee. At the luncheon, legislators mingled with students to understand the depth and breadth of the influence of Delaware Adult Education provides to the workforce, community, and corrections population.

The event was a collaborative effort involving Delaware Association for Adult and Community Education (DAACE), Delaware Coalition for Literacy (DCL), and Organization for Adult Alumni and Students in Service (OAASIS).
