Federal Grant Funds After School Program

The Sussex Tech Adult Division has been granted United States Department of Education funding for another 21st Century Community Learning Center After School Program. It will begin October 1 and serve Hispanic elementary school students in the Woodbridge School District.

The Woodbridge program will offer assistance with homework, remediation and enrichment in reading as well as technology. In addition, computer classes will be offered to parents and Family Fun Nights will be held. Field trips to help increase background knowledge and promote connection with families and schools will also be planned.

The 21st Century Community Learning Center After School Program is a collaboration between the Woodbridge School District, the Sussex Tech Adult Division, the Delaware State Housing Authority at Laverty Lane and the Arsht Cannon Foundation. The goal of the collaboration is to increase academic achievement, increase school connectedness of the participants’ families, and increase the students’ capacity to become productive adults.
