Sussex Tech Adult Division Applies to Continue 21st Century Community Learning Center After School Program

The Sussex Tech Adult Division receives United State Department of Education funding for a 21st Century Community Learning Center After School Program. The program serves Hispanic middle school students in the Woodbridge School District. The program offers assistance with homework, remediation and enrichment in Reading as well as technology. In addition, computer classes are offered to parents and Family Fun Nights are held. Field trips help increase background knowledge and promote connection with families and schools.

The 21st Century Community Learning Center After School Program is a collaboration between the Woodbridge School District, the Sussex Tech Adult Division, the Delaware State Housing Authority at Laverty Lane and the Arsht Cannon Foundation. The goal of the collaboration is to increase academic achievement, increase school connectedness of the participants’ families and increase the students’ capacity to become productive adults.

The 21st Century After School Program is submitting a continuation application for the period May 1, 2014 through April 30, 2015. This application is available for public review. Should you want to learn more about this program or have questions, please contact Terri Corder at Sussex Tech Adult Division.
