Today, admissions notifications were sent by email to parents and guardians of all 8th-grade applicants to Sussex Tech for the 2019-2020 freshman year after the certification of the lottery results. We had a record number of applicants this year – more than 800 Sussex County students sought to join the freshman class, and we were able to accept less than 300.

Important things to know:

>> ACCEPTANCE DEADLINE: Students who were offered admission must accept or decline by midnight, March 15. The details on how to do so are in the email you received. If you do not accept by March 15, you will not be confirmed for enrollment.

>> WAIT LIST: Students who were not given an offer of acceptance are placed on a wait list as laid out under Delaware law. The notification emails contain each student’s position on the wait list. After March 15, we will begin admitting students off of the wait list, a process that will continue into the summer.

>> THE LOTTERY: Sussex Tech’s admissions lottery is completely random. It is managed by the state Data Service Center, which also handles admissions for several other Delaware school districts. The Board of Education has adopted an admissions policy to emphasize transparency: http://tiny.cc/STAdmissionsPolicy and http://tiny.cc/STAdmissionsRegulations.

Thank you for considering Sussex Tech for your student’s educational choice.
