New students to Sussex Technical High School were welcomed at Freshman Orientation on Monday, August 22 by “The Chalkguy” who uses a humor-packed speech filled with personal stories and heartfelt encouragement for students to step outside their comfort zones to live a full life based on self-knowledge, personal responsibility, and a positive attitude.
Ben Glenn, an inspirational speaker, who as an adult was officially diagnosed with AD/HD, has a personal mission of removing the stigma that comes from being diagnosed with AD/HD by talking about it openly and with humor whenever he can. His struggle with traditional learning led him to discover a love of art. His presentations feature a dynamic, not-to-be-missed, live art demonstration that turns a blank canvas into a masterpiece – right in front of the audience’s eyes. Glenn always finds a way to tie his message in with the drawing.
Glenn is a return visitor to Sussex Tech and this year’s artwork will be added to his collection of masterpieces that he has already donated to the high school.
Following Glenn’s presentation, students located their classrooms and met their teachers in preparation for opening day with upperclassmen on August 25.
